2008 Severna Park
Independence Day Parade
This is a tradition for Jing Ying Institute and a test of willpower and endurance for our students! As we march, we carry our banner, perform Lion Dance, pull the drums, play the drums, cymbals and gong, perform with weapons and perform empty hand techniques. We give our all for the crowd and they seem to appreciate our efforts. I don't think any group works harder than our students! Everyone helps out. People take turns playing the lion (definitely a hot job!), performing, pouring water on each other to keep cool and handing out trinkets to the crowd.
After the parade, we had a short break, then demonstrated for the crowd at Cypress Creek Park. Many thanks to all the students who came out to march, play the lion, demonstrate forms and weapons, and help with handing water to students, pouring it on them, or spraying them!
