This workshop is suitable for Tai Chi enthusiasts of all styles and experience
levels who want to learn from one of the great tai chi masters of our time. The
focus will be on the 18 form created by Master Chen. This form includes the most
important of the 74 movements in Lao Jia Yi Lu and removes the repetition
to provide a shorter and easier to learn form that retains the benefits of
practicing the longer form. This workshop is suitable for all levels as
beginners will have the opportunity to learn the form and advanced students will
be able to review or refine their movements. Beginners and experts of all styles
will benefit from this workshop and will improve their understanding and
practice of TaiJi.
Chen Style TaiJi Quan (Tai Chi) is considered the source of the major styles of
Tai Chi. The founders of both Yang Style and Wu style trained at the Chen
Village, then left and opened their art to the public. While those styles spread
and became popular, Chen style continued to be taught only in the Chen village
and was not as well known. Now the secret is out, and Chen TaiJi is gaining in
popularity as people discover the silk reeling exercises and coiling movements
of this style. Register soon to reserve your spot for this unique opportunity to
learn the 18 form from its creator!

Old Frame II Canon Fist (Laojia Erlu or
Paochui)
While in the Yilu or First Routine, you train
to develop qi and the rou (softness), in the Second Routine or
Paochui, you learn to acquire the expressiveness of Taijiquan power.
You can also think of the the Erlu Routine as training to manifest
the gongfu (the power and skills of the art), while the Yilu Routine
as the gongfu jia, that is, the basic training routine to xia gongfu
(to attain gongfu of the art). In this sense, the Paochui Routine is
the complement of the Yilu Routine.
Learning and practicing the Erlu Routine is
essential to your development and understanding of Taijiquan and it
will reinforce your insights of Yilu training, and why you spend
such an inordinate amount of time to cultivate the soft-rou of the
art. You will have an experiential appreciation of how through rou
(softness), you express and develop gang (hard power), that is, to
taste the true yin-yang flavors of jin internal strength.
THIS IS A MUST-ATTEND WORKSHOP for anyone
who seeks higher levels of the art.
